Keep in mind, the main difference the Layer Type in Properties is normally Tile, but other types may be used; and the Attribute name will be Length with a unit of measure of foot. (On the map, the line will show the distance of the line by feet).
- Select the field you want to create the layer for; and either right click on the field or go to Layers > Create New Layer > Line Layer.
- For Properties create a name, and Layer Type for this type of layer is normally Tile, but can be what you would like.
- Attributes tab you will Add Attribute, Name=Length, UOM = foot to create an attribute that will measure the distance of the line.
- Click OK and the Line Layer is created.
Answer:
Select your Line type layer in the domain tree, and select Layers > Layer Editor. The editor tool will open and you will see some tools specifically designed for a Line Type Layer. Those tools are described below:
New Line - click on this icon to activate crosshairs on the map. Click to start the line, and for each point in the line (for anything with a curve). When Done, double click on the final point and you will see the line with the length of the line on the map.
Move Line - select the line either on the map or in the data tab and click on this icon to activate this tool. Click on the directional arrows
and drag the line to it's new location. You may also click on the curved arrows
to rotate the line to a new position.
Delete Line - select the line either on the map orn the data tab, then click on this icon to delete the selected line. If you make an error, you can always click "undo"
to restore anything that was done.
**Tip: You can undo back to the last point you saved the layer, or when you opened layer editor.
