How to set up Product Mixes in AgStudio

Overview:

Product Mix Editor in AgStudio can be a very useful tool.  Especially when bringing in As-Applied data where you want to create a report of all the products used in the correct proportions.  Like other Resources (Seed, Fertilizer, Chemical, etc), Product Mixes are domain specific.

Having a Product Mix allows you to assign several products to a mix and assign specific rates to the applied acres.

We will also go over how to link Product Mixes in Field Op Resource Linker

Required:

• Access to AgStudio
• Master List of Resources/Products to be used in the mix.
• To Add/Edit any Product Mix at the database level, Admin Access is required.
• For Linking, FieldOp data with Product Mix Applied.

Process:

To create a Product Mix, the process is fairly similar to other resources, the major difference is you are using established product, and your are mixing known amounts or "batches."

As with other Resources, Product Mixes are domain specific, and it is suggested to create the Product Mix on the Entire Database level (Admin Access required). Then once created, you can add the Product Mix to a desired domain or grower. and the current year to add the mix.

1. Go to Setup > Product Mixes
2. In the Product Mix Editor, in the dropdowns on the top, select Entire Database to create a new product mix, OR Grower if adding Product Mix to the Grower domain (go to Step #10).
3. To add a new Product Mix, click Add.
4. Type in the preferred name of your Product Mix, this will confirm it's not in the database, if it doesn't show up on the list, click New Product.
5. Fill in required information (red x).  Name, Form, Rate/Unit, Batch Size and unit of the batch.  Default application rate, rounding preference, and setpoints are all optional.  Note:  A common method for batch size is the applied rate of the mix.  For example, if a mix is getting applied at 15 gallons/acre, then the batch size would be 15 and the unit gallons.
6. Next, select "Add Product" to bring up the Ingredient Properties.
7. Here you will select Product Type (Chemical, Fertilizer, Manure, or Amendment), the specific Product, check the box if it's the Carrier (The largest ingredient by volume), Quantity in the batch and the Unit.  Click OK to add product to the batch.             
8. For the Carrier product, to figure the amount of carrier, once you check the box that it's the Carrier, click okay without filling in the Amount.  Click Calculate Carrier Quantity, AgStudio will then calculate the amount of Carrier product is in the batch. All items should be added before calculating Carrier.                                                                                     
9. Click OK to add the Mix to the Product List, and then click OK to add it to the domain.
10. To add to the grower, select Grower in the domain.
11. Click Add.  Your newly created Mix should be on the list.  
12. Select that Mix and click OK.  To select multiple mixes to add, you may hold the ctrl key while clicking to add multiple products at one time.  The mix is then added to the domain.

To Link Product Mix in FieldOp Resource Linker:

1. Go to FieldOps > FieldOps Resource Linker
2. Select your Application task (i.e. Spraying, Fertilizing, etc.)
3. Select the Product Tab, and find your Product Mix Product Type. 
4. Select the data you want to link to your product mix.
5. Click on the Green Book icon, then select Product Mix from the list.  (If the data already has a mix associated with products in the mix, you will need to delete the associated products before you can link the product mix.) 
6. Select the Product Mix from the list and click OK.
7. Line Items will then be created in Resource Linker with the applied amount of product.

**When reports are run after linking, the correct mix rates and desired usage should now appear in the reports.
