How do I create a Sample Directed Site Layer and mark Sample Locations?
Overview:
You have a previous year’s site layer to work from. However, you notice that several sites are not accessible this year as there has been some flooding. Therefore, you are going to have to manually mark each location.
Requirements:
- Data synced from the desktop version to your iPad
Process:
- Select the Grower, Farm, and Field (instructions in Accessing the Field) to display the map of the field you were assigned to sample.
- Tap the Options icon
and select Settings. From the Settings menu, select Sample and use the toggle button to enable Ignore Target IDs. By doing so, instead of using the SampleID of the closest point/polygon on the directed sampling layer, you can establish sequential SampleIDs.
- If you enable Ignore Target IDs, the next location that you mark for sampling will have a sequential SampleID. If you disable Ignore Target IDs, the Sample ID closest to the point/polygon on the directed sampling layer is used.
- Go to the new location and tap
to mark the new location and pull the sample.
Site Layer
If you are on a Site Layer, when you tap and the SampleID already exists, a Duplicate Sample ID popup displays in which you can choose:
- Replace – choose this option to replace the nearby SampleID
- Record Duplicate – choose this option to record a second point with the sample SampleID
- Rename – choose this options to enter a new SampleID
- Cancel – choose this option to cancel out of this action.
Polygon Layer
If you are on a Polygon Layer, when you tap and the SampleID already exists, a Duplicate Sample ID popup displays in which you can choose:
- Record Points – choose this option to record a new sample point
- Record Zones – choose this option to display a popup on which you can rename that zone’s SampleID
- Cancel – choose this option to cancel out of this action.
- Complete sampling the field making sure that for each site you tap
in AgStudio MAP and pull the sample for each.
- When the samples have been pulled, tap the
to display the Task Complete frame to choose an option to:
- Upload Now – choose this option to upload data right away (cellular connection is required)
- Upload Later – choose this option if no cellular connection is currently available. The job is saved and uploads when cellular connection is available.
- Discard – choose this option if you want to discard the entire session.
- Cancel – choose this option if you want to cancel the last action.
- Tap
and Sync. By doing so, you update the samples in the desktop version of AgStudio. In addition, Sync downloads any new assignments.
Note: Once you Sync an assignment (whether through Sync Now or Sync Later), you cannot access that Field again unless a new Work Order is created.
