How do I use Treatment Analysis?

Overview:

The Treatment Analysis tool can be used on a crop zone to compare different treatments (ex. fungicide, insecticide, and fertilizer) with the yield and potential soil types. This tool can also be used to compare yield by variety, agronomic conditions, and other factors.

Requirements:

AgStudio access.
Management Zone Layer with a group attribute.
Yield data uploaded and linked in AgStudio.

Process:

Setup the Analysis:

Select the Crop Zone in the Domain Tree.
Select the Tools menu.
Select Treatment Analysis.
Set the Boundary Buffer. This is the number of feet between the outer polygons and the crop zone boundary.
Select the treatment (Layer Name of the Management Zones layer) you want to use in the analysis.
Adjust the Buffer (ft) value to the appropriate distance you want between polygons.
NOTE: Use with caution. Adding an attribute buffer to a layer with small or narrow divisions can potentially eliminate good data.
Select the Attributes to include for each layer selected.
- Click Select All to choose all attributes listed for a layer or click Clear Selection to start with everything unchecked.
  NOTE: Available attributes will be of the "Group" type and depend on the selected layer. An individual attribute might have a buffer that eliminates regions from the analysis based on the specified region from each division in the layer.
Optional Step: Select the Yield Filters tab.
- Select Apply maximum yield filter to filter out erroneously high yield sites.
  - Set the maximum bushels/acre limit
- Select Apply minimum yield filter to filter out erroneously low yield sites.
  - Set the minimum bushels/acre limit
- Select Apply minimum area filter to filter out yield from areas below the set square feet.
  - Set the minimum square feet
- Select Apply speed-change filter to filter out yield from any sites that have a speed change from one site to the next.
  - Set the percentage of the difference in speed from the previous point to the next site.
After selections have been made to both Treatments and Yield Filters tabs, select the Analyze icon to perform the analysis.

Analyze Data:

Select the Analysis Tab
The information provided is divided into columns of the selected layer attributes and includes additional columns for:
- Count - the number of GPS points.
- Quantity (Yield * Acres) - the waited averages from Excel Spreadsheets.
- Standard Deviation - The standard deviation of the yield within the polygon; a measure of uniformity.
  Example: A large Std Dev indicates that yield sites within the polygon vary widely.
The Analysis is only done on the layer selected. Grouping columns in the Analysis tab will result in the weighted average to be displayed in the grid as well as the report.

Save/Print/Export:

Select the Print icon to generate a report of the data as shown on the Analysis tab. You may either save this report as a .PDF file or print directly from this window.
- If you grouped any columns on the Analysis tab prior to running the report, the weighted average for each group will display on the report.
Select the Save Regions icon to save the layer to the crop zone level of the domain tree. The layer contains an attribute for each column on the Analysis tab.
- You are able to name the layer in the dialog box that is displayed
Select the Export icon to export the results of the treatment analysis.
- This exports a region and sites shapefile of the analysis which can be stored on your computer for future viewing, used in another software package, or sent to another individual.
